Surangama Guha lives in Chennai where she is currently engaged in digital media and administration at the KM Music Conservatory, a brainchild of Academy Award winning composer A. R. Rahman.
Surangama started her career in academics, as an Assistant Professor of Sociology wherein she was one of the youngest departmental heads at Jhargram Raj College and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Government College respectively. In Chennai, she has taught at Stella Maris College, a premier women’s college in the country. She has also written for national newspapers in India like The Hindustan Times, Deccan Herald, and The Statesman, as well as online media platforms like The Quint. Surangama completed her first master’s degree with a First Class in Sociology from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and her second with Distinction in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Surangama has been published academically, both nationally and internationally, and her short stories, Suicide and Atonement, were published in The Statesman Festival Number, and online platform The India Review respectively.
